Remember that box of old sample products from work? What about that old coveted "icon of design" that you just don't love like you used to? Or what about that goofy shirt your mom gave you for Chistmas? Here's your chance to clear out the closet full of stuff that you just don't want any more, and at the same time contribute to a good cause! The IDSA Designer's Junk Auction benefits The Design Foundation's Industrial Designer Undergraduate Scholarship fund.
It works like this:
Everyone is encouraged to submit items to the auction. You don't have to be an IDSA member - or even a designer - to take part. Email the submission form and, if possible, a .jpg of your item to info-at-idsachicago.org.
You can bring items the night of the auction, too, just make sure you have it there by 6:30 pm to be included.
Not everything submitted will be auctioned off. As people arrive to the auction, they will be handed sticky notes for which to vote for their favorite things. Only the items that receive the most votes will be auctioned off. All other items will be returned to the seller or donated to a charity.
The seller can designate a starting bid for any or all of his or her items.
A minimum of 10% of the final sale must be given to the Design Foundation's Undergraduate Scholarship Fund.
All purchases will be cash.
You do not have to be selling something to attend the auction.

The fine type:
The IDSA Designer’s Junk Auction benefits The Design Foundation’s
Industrial Designer Undergraduate Scholarship fund. A minimum of 10% of
the sale must go to the Foundation for this purpose.
There is no limit to amount of items any one seller may contribute.
Please fill out one submission form for each submitted item.
Not all items submitted will be auctioned. The audience will decide the
night of the auction by popular vote which items will be auctioned off.
The seller sets the starting bid for each item. There is no secret
reserve (like in Ebay), so be certain that you are comfortable with
your starting bid.
All items should be brought to the auction the night of before 6:30.
If seller can not be present at the auction, alternate arrangements for
dropoff may be arranged by individual request.
The seller must arrange for pick-up of unsold items or prepay for
return shipping. Any items left behind will be donated to charity.
Please call Maria Weber at 312-375-5266, or email info@idsachicago.org
with questions.
Email completed form and .jpgs of items (for use in promotional
materials) to info@idsachicago.org.
