Kite Workshop

On Saturday July 22, IDSA Chicago members gathered with their families at Horner Park to take advantage of the perfect summer weather to build and fly kites. Charlie Sotich, Chicago native and World Kite Hall of Famer, helped the group construct the kites made from plastic bags. The simple kites provided a great canvas for decorating: Cubs and Sox logos, hearts, rainbows, favorite fruits and smiling faces adorned the sails.

The lightweight construction meant that the kites flew easily in the gently breeze. Even the littlest ones were able to fly their own creations up high above the trees. After kiting, Chicago Vice-Chair Michael Carrow brought out his grill and cooked up a great BBQ lunch to be enjoyed under the trees.
