Urban Outbreak - Northwest @ Designcraft

IDSA Chicago continues to reach out to suburban members with its latest Urban Breakout event, which was held on March 6th. Hosted by Designcraft, a model shop located in Lake Zurich, Illinois, the evening began with a chartered bus that whisked members from Chicago's downtown loop to the suburbs. Decked out with a catered mini-bar and plush limousine-like seating, the bus trip was just the beginning of an informative evening.

Following a social networking session and light dinner, members toured Designcraft's production floor and model making studio, where SLA, 3D Printing and CNC machines were all up and running. Designcraft staff members were on hand to explain color application and surface texture, demonstrate the RTV molding process, and discuss the importance of creating watertight CAD models. The evening ended with a short presentation on avoiding common mistakes in rapid prototyping.

Thanks to Designcraft for a great evening!
