The Promise of This Moment: Objects That Augment The Everyday

The Object Design League and The Mighty Bearcats present a conceptual design exhibition of prototypes. This exhibition "intends to highlight the capacity of objects to transform banal and commonplace activities into moments of play, relief, beauty and delight, exploring the aesthetic and experiential opportunities that lay hidden within routine." An opening reception is scheduled for Monday June 15th from 6-9pm at a raw space at 2035 W. Wabansia in Wicker Park.


Guerrilla Truck Show
Tuesday June 16, 6-9pm
Loading docks in front of Morlen Sinoway Atelier, 1052 West Fulton Market

Over 20 designers will pull up to the Fulton Market warehouse district in box-trucks, back up to the loading docks, and throw open the backs of the truck to reveal their mobile showrooms. Music will be provided by: DJ Frier Tuck and DJ Leslie Stiles. Refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to everyone, so spread the word. No RSVP is needed. The IDSA Materials and Processes Section invites you to attend The International Plastics Showcase: NPE2009 at McCormick Place in Chicago June 22-29. Presented by the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) once every three years, the International Plastics Showcase will be a valuable opportunity for design students, recent graduates, educators and practicing professional to learn about materials, plastics manufacturing and what's new in the plastics industry. Event features the International Plastics Design Competition Gallery which will feature dozens of plastic parts and products representing the cutting edge of plastics manufacturing.

Technology and Specialty Pavilions will highlight the latest in emerging and new technologies, as well as BPSA single-use, fluoropolymers, thermoforming and more.
