Chicago, April 2004: Fight Club at the IDSA Midwest Conference
Human Cloning

The theme of the conference was about shifts or changes that are happening now that affect our futures. Human cloning is such an issue, and there are two clear sides to the debate: The pro side argued that the once we are able to recreate the entire human body we will be able to grow organs and body parts for transplantation as well as make numerous medical breakthroughs by simply having living human cells to experiment with.

Their opposition argued that the ethical implications of 'playing God' and the possibility of the science -once evolved- getting into the wrong hands made this particular breakthrough one that should not be pursued further. They likened it to the development of nuclear science, which was initially meant only for ethical reasons, but eventually lead to Nuclear bomb technology.
