Welcome to the online-version of the 4th installment of ID Dispatch, IDSA Chicago's newsletter/poster hybrid. We're excited to bring you an conversation with Zoe Ryan, the first curator of design at the Art Institute of Chicago. Zoe graciously sat down with us to give us some insight into the shape of things to come at the new department, as well as giving us her point-of-view on the world of design today. We hope you'll enjoy the conversation as much as I enjoyed speaking with her! Big things are certainly in store for the Chicago design world when the Art Institute's Modern Wing opens!
This issue also features some cheeky poster art from Vladlena Belozerova, whom many of you may know as simply Vlada, a designer with Brooks Stevens outside of Milwaukee. After consuming the articles in this issue, we encourage you to give this newsletter an extended life by tacking up the poster somewhere around your studio. We think the squirrel will bring a smile (or a wave of panic) to everyone's face. As always, if you have any ideas or feedback about this month's issue, or are interested in contributing an article, feature, illustration, poster, or interview for a future issue, please get in contact with Craig Berman through the IDSA Chicago website.- Front Page (828 k pdf)
- Interview with Zoe Ryan (html coming soon) (912 k pdf)
- Vlada's Evil Squirrel Poster (4.7 mb pdf)
And don't forget to check out Laura Park's amazing poster from ID Dispatch 3!
