1) The Saturday night awards dinner has reached it's capacity of 300 attendees-- but have no fear, there are still openings for the rest of the conference events! We have made it possible to register for the conference without the dinner option. Those who have already secured a dinner spot will be given an awards banquet ticket in addition to their conference badge.
2) Looking for a ride to the DWR reception and the Radius Party? IDSA Chicago has hooked you up! For $5 (per ride, per person) you can get on board our White Stretch Limos! The limos will pick you up from the W Hotel starting at 6:15 and take you first to the DWR reception, and then for an additional $5 you can get a ride to the Radius party! A great deal for a great ride. Eleven (11) people per trip so make sure you get in line early on Friday. Pay as you ride. There will also be a map for cab rides or CTA availible at the conference and here on the website.
3) Keep checking the schedule page and speakers/events page for updates!

The economy, culture, business,
manufacturing, design trends, technology, the environment.
What do they have in common? They're all shifting. Modern
life is becoming defined by a constant rate of change, and
shows no sign of stopping.
Shift Happens, and the best way to deal with it is
to stay abreast of these changes and adapt... or be left behind.
The Shift Happens Midwest IDSA Conference
will focus on movement in the design industry. It will be
a unique and innovative conference: We have a number of new
events to make this an inspirational and rewarding weekend.
The collective presentations will aim to give the attendees
a sense of current shifting trends, and therefore point the
way to what the future holds for us. Get ahead in shifting
topics such as:
Asian Competition, Design Trends, New Technology, What Corporations
Want, Designing Green, Big-Box Monopolies, and shifting
from Industrial Design to Management.
Shift Happens IDSA Regional Conference, W City Center Chicago, April 16 - 18 2004.
The New Face of the Silicon Age - Tech jobs are fleeing to India faster than ever. Remember that old Silicon Valley mantra, "Change is good"?
The Rise of the Creative Class - Millions of us are beginning to work and live much as creative types like artists and scientists always have - with the result that our values and tastes, our personal relationships, our choices of where to live, and even our sense and use of time are changing. Leading the shift are the nearly 38 million Americans in many diverse fields who create for a living-- the Creative Class.
What is the IDSA?
The IDSA is the voice of the industrial
design profession, advancing the quality and positive impact
of design.
